Pensacola’s Music Events
Pensacola, Florida has some of the best events around! If you’re looking for some family-friendly fun, here are some of the best music festivals that happen in the city every year.
Frank Brown International Songwriter’s Festival
This festival takes place in the Flora-Bama Lounge on the Florida-Alabama state line. Songwriters, everywhere from award-winning lyricists to new up-and-comers, have been assembling here for more than 30 years. These musicians step onto the stage each night to share their songs in settings that range from quiet and intimate to loud, sing-along parties.
This festival is the oldest one of its kind and is known as the largest gathering of songwriters at any one time anywhere in the world. Attendees can enjoy personal concert experiences and even learn the stories behind some of their favorite songs. While most of the venues can be attended for free, a few do charge a small fee at the door.
The Frank Brown International Songwriter’s Festival is dedicated to Frank Brown, a night watchman at the Flora-Bama for 28 years. His integrity, strength, and moral values still hold true today.
Blues on the Bay
You can find Blues on the Bay at the Community Maritime Park Hunter Amphitheater in Pensacola’s Community Maritime Park throughout the summer months. Concerts are held on Sunday nights when the Blue Wahoos aren’t playing a home game at the park.
These concerts are family-friendly and you can find various concessions available. So, bring some blankets and chairs down, and have a picnic on the green grass while the sun sets over Pensacola Bay. Concerts start at 6 PM and are open to the public free of charge. However, you do need to leave glass containers and pets at home.
Bands on the Beach
Every Tuesday from April to October, enjoy Pensacola Beach’s summer concerts. These concerts are held at the lovely Gulfside Pavilion, which overlooks the Gulf of Mexico, and feature regional artists performing a variety of music.
Bring down your chairs and coolers to the shore, and sit back and relax (or get up and dance!) while you listen to the wonderful music and watch the sun set on Pensacola Beach.
Sandy Roots Songwriter Series
Do you enjoy original music? Do you want to know the stories behind the songs? Then look no further than the Sandy Roots Songwriter Series in Perdido Key! This is a monthly event that takes place at The Point Restaurant and features six songwriting artists during each session. Three of these artists are locals, and three of them are regional or national touring songwriters. There will also be a Nashville hit songwriter featured every quarter.
The concerts themselves are held in The Point’s Courtyard, under a beautiful canopy of oak trees. This event takes place on the third Tuesday of every month as it is free to attend.
So, if you’re looking for something fun to do with family and friends, you should definitely add these music festivals and events to your to-do list. And when you’re not dancing in the sand, or jamming out to the music, come by Rock Bottom Fishing Charters, and spend the day out on the quiet water for a nice change of pace.
